《佩皮斯日记》英国十七世纪的一位文学家，政治家的日常记录，写的全是龌龊，八卦之事，如有一章集中的是一方面担心妻子红杏出墙，一方面自己与妻子的侍女眉来眼去，搂搂抱抱，从而家庭不和。很好玩，有趣，下面抄两则：
一，这则他写自己去教堂作礼拜，想吃侍女的豆腐，却被她们用绣花针吓退，下则揩了保姆油，竞大胆对她动起真情来！
ugust 18th, 1667.
I walked White Hall, but, being wearied, turned into St. Dunstan’s Church, where I heard an able sermon of the place; and stood by a pretty, modest maid, whom I did labour to take by the hand and the body; but she would not, but got further and further from me; and at last I could perceive her take pins out of her pocket to prick me if I should touch her again-which seeing I did forbear, and was glad I did spy her design. And then I fell go gaze upon another pretty maid in a pew close to me, and she on me; and I did go out to take her by the hand, which she suffered a little and then withdrew. So the sermon ended, and the church broke up, and my amours ended also, and so took coach and home, and there took up my wife.
JUNE 19TH 1666
Home ,and at my business till late at night,then with my wife into garden and there sang with Mecer,whom I feel myself begin to love too much by handling of her breasts in a morning when she dresses me ,they being the finest that ever I saw in my life,that is the truth of it .so home and to supper with beans and bacon and to bed
